Brian Felts Bats

One of the more horrible pictures to come out in the 1990's, this piece of guano stars "Mr. Where Is He Now" Lou Diamond Phillips as a sheriff in a small Texas town being taken over by genetically mutated bats which some government scientist created. I would have rather enjoyed watching them fighting a genetically created hemorrhoid on the ass of Barbara Streisand, at least it would be hurting Streisand at the same time.

So, the story goes, these bats are created by a mad scientist for the military, and they get out of control and start killing people. The role of the mad scientist is played by Bob Gunton, whose best known role is as the warden in "The Shawshank Redemption." The only other actor, or in this case actress, who is at all familiar is Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers) as the Doctor who believes bats are our friends.

Let's give special recognition to future port-o-potty inspector, Louis Morneau, who directed this movie as well as other such classics as "The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting," "Soldier Boyz" and of course the classic "Carnosaur 2." Please, please do not let this man direct another movie again.

The award for What-the-F**k-Were-You-On-When-You-Wrote-This goes to writer John Logan who has done such movies as "The Aviator" and "Gladiator." Boy, I guess you can start off as a no talent hack and create something good, even great. So, here's to all of the screenwriters out there who are making B-Rated movies; there is hope.

I am sure we will all be reminded of this movie when we see Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba) in the Center Square on TV's "Hollywood Squares," sitting next to Jim J. Bullock. Until then, let's hope space aliens come and delete this horrible movie from our memories.
