This review was a challenge from Brian to Benn.

The worst thing about this movie is it cheapens the use of digital video as a legitimate use of moviemaking.

"The Gingerdead Man" is about a young girl named Sara Leigh who watches her father and brother slain by a killer opens a bakery a couple years later. Yes…Sara Leigh opened a bakery.

Anyways, the killer, played by Gary Busey (DC Cab), is sentenced to death, his mother has him cremated and she puts his ashes in a package of gingerbread dough. The mother sends the dough to Leigh and Leigh employee cuts himself and the blood gives the killer a rebirth, but only after his soul is baked into the form of a 12" gingerbread man cookie.

The only thing I can say in this movie's favor is it NEVER takes itself seriously. In plot and in dialogue, the picture is always making fun of itself; however, that doesn't help it's entertainment value any.

There's isn't a single decent actor in this. There are moments where the girl playing Sara Leigh does well, in the same vein of Jennifer Aniston in "Leprechaun," but not quite.

The director decided to shoot almost the entire picture with a dutch angle, and it annoys the crap out of me. I constantly found myself tilting my head back and forth to see the picture decently, and eventually I got a headache.

There are so many great stories many basement filmmakers have to tell, which DV will be there only chance to share it with the world, but when "The Gingerdead Man" is made with the same format, it cheapens the format. DVD renters will not respect movies like "Four Dead Batteries," which is a great DV made movie, when they associate crap like "The Gingerdead Man" with the DV medium.

Overall, I feel like I've let the world down in some way by simply watching this movie. I've disappointed society, and I am now awaiting penance. Rather than watch another feature from Full Moon Productions, I would boil my own head like an egg.
