I thought this movie would be a dark comedy. I soon realized it was just dark.

"The Ice Harvest" is about a hapless lawyer named Charlie, played by John Cusack (Must Love Dogs), who attempts to steal over $2 million from a Kansas City mob boss on Christmas Eve, but his partner, played by Billy Bob Thornton (Primary Colord), a strip club owner, might have different plans for an escape.

John Cusack was very fun to watch. He's always fun when he gets to say the F-word. Billy Bob Thornton had a very small part, and seemed to have phoned it in a bit.

The movie overall is extremely weird and off-beat. It is always difficult for me to have to cheer for criminals. We don't really get a point of the movie when we see Charlie as a decent human being. The last moment of the picture shows he's a decent friend, but that's about it.

I did enjoy the movie, and I really appreciated THIS kind of venture from director Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day, Analyze This). He's also known for having scripted movies like "Ghostbusters" and "Stripes," so breaking out with such an odd situational light drama like this was exciting to see.

I've heard this movie described as a Seriocomic Noir Thriller. I don't exactly see how any of those words describe this oddity of a picture.

Overall, the picture was fun and fairly well made, but I just don't know whom it's playing to. I felt okay seeing it, but I'm sure it will slip from my memory.
