Brian Felts Kill Bill Vol. 2

In Part 2 of "Kill Bill," the bride is back, and she is halfway down her list with the ultimate goal of meeting and killing Bill. Although this movie is still an homage to the samurai movies of the 70's, Part 2 developed the story and characters much better, making this movie more enjoyable than the first.

Uma Thurman (Kill Bill: Vol. 1) does a wonderful job acting, showing again a full range of emotions. The entire scene where she is learning Kung Fu from the master Pai Mei is one of my favorites in both movies. Props also go to Gordon Liu who played Pai Mei in this movie. He was also Johnny Mo, the guy in the Kato mask in the first part. Also, the scene when the bride meets her daughter for the first time is very touching.

If this movie has a downside--that's a big IF, it's Michael Madsen's (Species) character of Budd. The role isn't as big as I would have liked, and Daryl Hannah (Wallstreet), as Elle, is annoying only when she talks, which she does a lot of in this movie. I also would liked to have seen David Carradine (TV's Kung Fu) fight more and in the DVD you get to see a deleted scene which shows Carradine fighting. However, if Tarantino is going to resurrect him from the dead, at least he could have given him a chance to fight.

Unlike the first part, the movie does get a little long at the very end and was noticeable. However, this really doesn't take away from the movie.

This movie is an excellent compliment to the first part, and combining the two, it makes an excellent franchise. The language isn't as bad, and there is virtually no blood. This is the cerebral part of the show and is just as enjoyable as the first.
