"Airplane," "The Naked Gun," and "Austin Powers" are good spoof movies because they do not use the same joke over and over. This is the problem with "Pootie Tang," it uses the same joke over and over until it beats it to death, buries it, plants flowers on the grave, cuts the flowers and plants them again in the ground again.

Pootie Tang, played by Lance Crouther (CB4,) is a guy who is a famous, actor, musician, and hero of the common man and fights the enemy of them, Corporate America with his daddy's belt. Pootie is so influential that his Public Service Announcements against smoking, drinking, and fast food, are causing the downfall of Corporate America and its leader Dick Lechter, played by Robert Vaughn (Baseketball.) Lechter tries to buy Pootie and fails so Lechter's woman, Ireene, played by Jennifer Coolidge (Lemony Snicket,) uses sex to confuse Pootie and steals his belt and tricks him into signing an agreement to support Corporate America.

Pootie Tang runs off and moves to the country to grow corn. He is hounded by the sheriff to marry his daughter. Pootie tries to fight it off but when is only stalk of corn dies he completely falls apart and almost agrees to marry the woman. Meanwhile, Corporate America creates a fake Pootie Tang to endorse Corporate America. Pootie leaves the wedding and goes to kick the ass of the Corporate America Pootie Tang.

This movie starts off funny but one of the many jokes, Pootie Tang's unique vocabulary, gets run INTO the ground. Along with every other funny thing that is in the beginning of the movie gets over used. Writer/director Louis C.K. came up with some original ideas, but instead of creating too many ideas and cutting them out of the film, he uses the same three or four for the entire movie. Another example would be Pootie's ability to dodge bullets, hilarious the first time, not so funny 20 minutes later. Lewis, who has been a writer and director on such TV show's as "The Drew Carey Show," and "The Chris Rock Show," showed he had talent but just ruins the movie with using the same gags.

This movie is only watchable if you get some of the inside jokes that I don't get or like looking at hot women because there are a few of them. Other than that, you will only laugh a few times, and its not worthy of renting, maybe if you are sick and its on HBO, but only if you are about 10 minutes from falling asleep.
