I liked this movie probably more than I should because of only one reason, Ashley Judd. Her character wasn't even that exciting, and we get to see no skin, but it is still Ashley Judd. Without her this movie would not be watchable.

Twisted is a movie about a female cop Jessica Shepard (Ashley Judd) who gets promoted to homicide and her first case appears to be a serial killer. However, this serial killer is killing men that she has had sex with. Not former boyfriends, but guys she picks up in the bar and bangs that night. She is also a daughter of a dead policeman who goes on a killing spree and kills his wife before committing suicide. She is raised by her fathers partner, the now Police Commissioner John Mills (Samuel L. Jackson.)

As the bodies begin to pile up, she is starting to have doubts whether or not she is the killer. She drinks a lot and passes out, wakes up the next morning to a phone call of another dead body. So who is the Killer? Is it Jessica, her partner Mike Delmarco (Andy Garcia) or some one else?

The story is mostly boring and never really grabs any tension. Ashley does the best she can, but I don't see her being a cheap hooker. Samuel L. Jackson does a decent job but the ending, in which he is in the climatic scene, doesn't make any sense and I am guessing the scriptwriters had to finish in a hurry. Andy Garcia's character was highly boring and could have been done by a blow up doll and had just as much enthusiasm as he had.

The director, Phillip Kaufman, who has also directed Quills, Rising Sun, and the Academy Award winner The Right Stuff, missed his mark on this one, because there is no suspense in the movie.

Overall, I will tell you to watch this movie because of Ashley Judd, but if you want to see her in a good movie, go and see De-Lovely which is still in the theaters, or rent Kiss the Girls, they are both infinitely better.
