Wedding Crashers is a story about two bachelor's John, played by Owen Wilson (Life Aquatic,) and
Jeremy, played by Vince Vaughn (Dodgeball,) who crash wedding parties to meet women and f**k them.
They both decide to crash the Secretary of the Treasury's daughter's wedding. While there John falls
for one of Secretary Cleary's daughters Claire, played by Rachel McAdams (The Notebook.) Jeremy takes
the other single daughter of the Secretary, Gloria, played by Isla Fisher (Scooby Doo) to the beach and
bangs her. Jeremy then finds out that Gloria was a virgin and now is in love Jeremy. John discovers
that Claire has a boyfriend but wants to work on her so he forces Jeremy to go to the Secretary's house,
played by Christopher Walken (Blast from the Past) for the weekend.
This movie is very raw. In fact I would say it is borderline Animal House raw. In the first five minutes
there is nudity, female of course, and several bad words, mostly sexual in nature. However, it is very, very
funny.
I was surprised how well Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson acted together. Normally each actor needs
a straight man to play opposite with, for example Ben Stiller for Owen Wilson and Brad Pitt for
Vince Vaughn. However, these two were able to be the straight man for each other when the other
needed to be funny. The comedy was pretty much split up with Vaughn taking on the physical comedy
and Wilson taking the banter, very good stuff.
The movie is a must see but leave your kids at home. Will Ferrell does a great job with his cameo
and adds to the movie. The story is cookie cutter but it doesn't take away from the actors who do
a great job. I say again, go see this, but leave the kids at home.
Brian - the Naked Gun I haven't seen a movie this outlandishly lewd and hilarious since "There's Something About Mary." It was very much in the vein of a Farrelly Brothers directed picture.
Wilson and Vaughn were absolutely hilarious together, which is probably the reason everyone would see this picture. Know there is no disappointment in laughs by teaming these two up. The comedy of the picture was very lewd and outlandish. There was a lot of swearing and sexual humor which occurs with pretty good set up, so it doesn't appear as contrived as that kind of humor tends to be. This is why I compare it to a Farrelly Brothers picture. They are able to have their brand of humor flow naturally, rather than force it. "Wedding Crashers" delivers the same way. However, there is one flaw in the picture. For some reason, at the top of act three, the laugh die down to make way for Beckwith's unrequited love story, and conflict between the two main characters cause Klein is marrying Claire's sister. It confuses me why the filmmakers would have all this outlandish comedy for an hour and fifteen minutes, just to throw on the brakes and attempt to make the picture a legitimate romantic comedy. Don't get me wrong, the final act of the movie was pretty good. Overall, the picture was very basic, but the lewd brand of comedy was fired off well to get HUGE laughs out of me. I wouldn't exactly take a date to this picture, but I would take any woman who wants to learn more about most men. "Wedding Crashers" will find its way into my DVD collection eventually.
